Steven Isenberg, who served as chief of staff to New York Mayor John V. Lindsay, wrote if Biden pledged not to run again, the midterms would cease to be a referendum on the state of America under Biden and instead focus on local elections.

Biden's approval rating hit a new low according to a Quinnipac poll, with many political strategists and pundits suggesting the president might face a primary challenge. One Democrat running for Congress said Biden's low approval number has affected her chances of winning the district.

Past incumbent presidents who have declined to run, LBJ and Truman for example, made their announcements early in the year of the general election. Biden has time to think about it.

Biden only ran because he didn't want to Trump to have a second term. He didn't think that Bernie Sander or Elizabeth Warren and the others would defeat Trump. I think he was correct in that estimation. Biden won't run if he thinks that it increases Trump's chance of returning to the White House.

A factor that will play into Trump's chances (besides his possibly fighting incarceration in courtrooms) is how the Republicans he endorse do in the mid-terms. If he is a loser by virtue of picking losing candidates that hurts his image even among the MAGA faithful as a "winner".

Doctor Oz, Herschel Walker and a few others don't look so good in the general.

Presidential campaigns cover a longer period of time these days than they did 50 years or more ago. Joe'll have to drop earlier than Truman or LBJ did.

My biggest hope that Trump's campaign is that his controversial endorsements blow up in his face. Newt said this morning, on Fox News Sunday, that he expects the GOPs to pick up 6 or 7 Senate seats this year. If he's right, Trump'll be unstoppable.

Newt hopes that's the case. Larry Sabato has a much less rosy outlook for the GOP in their Senate chances.

Newt made a compelling case but pb predicts that the 022 Senate elections will be a wash.

It will be wash no matter what happens. It will be stalemate as it is now with neither party having sufficient votes to pass legislation with a party-line vote. Neither the Democrats nor the Republicans will have 60 seats in the Senate. Even if the Republicans and McConnell win the Senate, they won't be able to override a presidential veto.

    Curt,

You're acknowledging that President Clouseau is an ineffective leader.

It's beyond him to, himself, compromise and, then, to appeal to moderates in his own party and, then, to the low hanging fruit among the GOPs. There's more than a few of them.

Joe's truly a "feckless dementia-ridden piece of crap." Now, in effect, you are accepting that reality.
