Building Community                   Remind students of STAR student expectations. S: Sit/ Stand tall T: Track the speaker A: Ask and answer questions R: Respect Seek 100% YES         NO Use positive language to recommend a "Break" within the classroom setting. The student can take a few breaths and calm. YES Student resumes class after a quick break (1-2 min)       NO Remind student of offered opportunities for increasing community involvement. YES Offer positive feedback for making good choices       NO Student is directed to the "Bench" (a chair within the classroom, slightly away from larger group). Student should sit respectfully. YES A quick (private) conversation from the teacher, using positive language, brings the student back to the larger classroom community.
