A majority of voters say the country is on the wrong track, according to a new Harvard CAPS-Harris Poll survey released exclusively to The Hill.

The poll shows that 54 percent of registered voters say the country is heading in the wrong direction, while 41 percent say it's on the right track. Six percent said they don't know or are unsure.

That's a stark difference from June, when 53 percent of voters said the country was on the right track.

I can't recall support for a President plummeting like it has for the "feckless dementia-ridden piece of crap."

I have previously opined in these pages that right track/wrong track polls are essentially meaningless. They are meaningless no matter who the president is or which party controls Congress.

You could be a conservative thinking that the Democrats are sending America over an abyss and say that we are on the wrong track. You could be progressive upset with Republicans and people like Joe Manchin stymieing Bernie Sanders' favorite legislation and say we are on the wrong track.

You could be a one-issue voter and say the country's heading in the wrong direction because legislation is not addressing you're single issue or furthering your pet project.

It is the nature of our government to find compromise. The typical individual voter will never get their preferred ideal legislation.

Read the poll. It's very detailed and consequential. It covers a lot of territory.

    It's ugly for Joe.

    HtS,
Besides what I already said, a person could be mad that vaccinations and masks are required in many places. A person could be mad that vaccinations and masks are NOT required in many places. Both would say America is on the wrong track.

Presidential approval polls are somewhat more meaningful. In the latest RCP, Biden's approval line is edging upwards. The most meaningful polls are ones that give the voters a choice between candidates. As one politician (I forget who) said alluding to approval polls, "it's not choice between me and the Almighty; it's me versus the alternative [candidate]".

As of this moment, Joe's DIS-approval is as high as it's been: 50.0%

    An Historical Look-Back-N-See.....

Presidents, preceded by their lowest approval rating during their presidencies:

    45% Biden
    34% Trump
    38% Obama
    25% W
    37% Clinton
    29% HW
    35% Reagan
    28% Carter
    36% Ford
    24% Nixon
    34% Johnson
    56% Kennedy
    47% Ike
    22% Truman
    48% FRD

In all honesty, pb. I can't imagine how you manage to go through life with absolutely no sense or awareness of context. What it is, or even the concept of it.

And who knows? Biden may well get down to Trump level yet. His administration is young. Lotta crap can happen in eight years.
