The facts and quotes in this article would make a good campaign ad exposing Trump's cruelty and hypocrisy.

As you know I worked for many years in ad agencies as a graphic artist, copywriter, art director, radio/TV commercial director, etc.

You have alluded to the fact that your business has suffered a drop off. Is this a result of AI or other technologies replacing your work? I designed a lot of brochures and mailers in my time. I'd imagine that sort of work has dried up. Same with magazine and newspaper ads.

The internet replaced most of my work - publications, brochures, newsletters, etc... Most companies do very little of that these days because they can just send you to their website. Print - overall - is on it's death bed. There will always be some, but nothing like 30 years ago - and that's a good thing in some ways. I always tried to lead my clients away from wasteful paper products anyway.

My business is based mostly on publications which have been drying up for years. When I worked at a publisher recently, one of the "younger" people there (in his 40s!) told me everyone he knows hates reading printed media. Very few people want to advertise in print media because they think the internet is better. That dovetails perfectly with the high number of people who have no idea how advertising actually works. I would not recommend advertising in a dying print pub - but I also would not recommend advertising on the web without knowing what you're doing.

So far as AI? Seeing a lot of AI stock photos now - people photos are getting to the point where only graphic/photographic insiders can recognize some of them. Check out the links below. We are headed for an entirely AI-generated entertainment and infotainment world. The wealthy will continue to get wealthier - the poor poorer.

There is a political website, HillReporter.com, that I am convinced is entirely AI written. They used to have a collection of contributing writers who really didn't do any original reporting, other than to "report" on what other news media outlets report. The Hill Reporter staff dashed off their reports usually with a typo or grammatical error. Then suddenly a few months ago the site stopped posting anything new for about a month.

Then just as suddenly they are back and everything is written by "Todd" who I suspect is the brother of "Hal". The typos and goofs are gone but the writing is rather anodyne and sterile.

It's going to be super easy for Skynet to put an end to the human race when the time comes. I give us another 10yrs or so as slaves to AI before we're done creating the environment they can survive in without our help.

Skynet is a fictional artificial neural network-based conscious group mind and artificial general superintelligence system that serves as the antagonistic force of the Terminator franchise.

Yes Curt. That's how it became the (figurative) face of the AI future coming at us far faster than we should allow.
