$300K Bentley which crashed and exploded on Rainbow Bridge may have experienced mechanical problems
The deadly high-speed crash that sparked panic at a Niagara Falls border checkpoint this week is being investigated as possible mechanical failure — despite it being a new $300,000 Bentley, police confirmed to The Post on Friday.

Driver Kurt Villani and his wife Monica, both 53, were killed instantly Wednesday when their 2022 Flying Spur literally took flight after hitting a barrier at around 100mph, crashing down in a huge fireball on the New York side of Rainbow Bridge.

My question is; why was a car going 100mph (160kph) going to a known stop. That doesn't make any sense. I was taught to respect traffic stops and LEA stuff. I didn't have to know why. Red and blue lights. Slow the fuck down. I'm now giving any reason, I'm waiting for the forensics to come across. I would think US would have jurisdiction, and both sides have a vested interest to minimize any terrorist threat (until it's unreasonable to do so).

This was reported in the NY Times.

"Vincent A. Ettari, a civil engineer in Westchester County, N.Y., who serves as an expert witness on road design in court cases, said that a trail of dark vapor visible behind the car as it flew through the air in surveillance footage suggested that the driver was alert and not impaired, and that he had been pressing on the brakes. The explosion that followed was foreseeable, Mr. Ettari said."

That suggests a mechanical failure. Alternatively, the car was tampered with.

The girl in the video.... "Ya'll think they're alright?" 🤔

The flight of the car is unbelievable - had to be 30-40yds in the air. I'm guessing some sort of mechanical failure - the article says some of the other Bentleys had accelerator pedals sticking. When I was parking cars on the beach, one of the Audi models had a problem with the accelerators sticking. It was so bad, all the valet lots had signs up saying they wouldn't park them.
