I don't think that Pence can beat Trump, but I think he can take away poll numbers and votes from Trump. Some of the people who admire or at least respect Pence might rethink their fealty to Trump. Some will consider Pence or some other candidate instead of Trump.
Maybe these people will still believe that January 6th was a sightseeing tour, but some at least will relate to a father/husband whose family in danger. If Trump wasn't to blame, he certainly didn't lift a finger to protect and help the Pence family. If Pence didn't realize it before, he finally learned that loyalty is a one-way street with Trump.

I admire Pence generally but his commitment to his understanding of the Constitution on J6, particularly under the pressure of the Trump team, is PROFILES IN COURAGE material. But, I'd vote for DeSantis and Haley and Tim Scott before I'd vote for Pence as a presidential candidate.
