People who say they are voting for Robert F. Kennedy Jr. are probably low-information voters.

The unemployment rate is a very low 3.7%.

The good news is that it's a job seeker's market which causes wages to go up. The bad news is that some jobs are going unfilled and employers can't find workers at any price. Locally businesses are open reduced hours because they cannot find enough staff to keep the business open. Many of the ads I see on local TV are not selling products or services but advertising for help. I'm sure that's the case elsewhere in America.

Unsurprisingly, the cost of higher wages gets passed on to the customer. That's a major reason why prices are up.

Most immigrants want to come to America to work and make money. They're willing to do the hard work such as working in fields or behind the scenes in restaurants that native born Americans are reluctant to do.

We are shooting ourselves in the foot by not allowing immigrants into America. America has an aging population. There are a lot of jobs that are young people's jobs that older Americans will simply not take.

Because of misguided efforts to prevent forest fires over the past 100 years or so there is a buildup of fuel that needs to be cleared for healthy forests. An army of immigrants could remove the undergrowth in the forests.

Incidentally non-citizens are ineligible to receive public benefits such as welfare and unemployment. So despite all the whining from Red States immigrants are not costing America much.

On top of that immigrants are also consumers. That's good for business.

Not all economists agree with that. But since you agree, do you think that if wages were never increased, prices would be static?

    That ^ was my comment.

    Curt,

Are you thinking that, say, MAGAs?, conservatives?, GOPs?, oppose immigration?

    If you do, you're wrong.

    I oppose illegal immigration.

The DC Dems control everything in DC. They have had a perfect opportunity to propose and promote and, very likely, pass immigration reform legislation.

Instead, they put the word out that the border's open. And, wet backs are flooding the border. Many of those people are on our terrorist watch list. Many more are bringing fentanyl and other illicit drugs across the border. And, many, many more are engaged in human trafficking.

And, to your point, many undocumented aliens are abused by their, mostly GOP, employers.

That's nasty. And, it's all on "that feckless dementia-ridden piece of crap."

    Ponderer,
No the opposite is not true. There are a lot of expenses that go into a product or service. There's the cost of raw material, rent, wages, taxes, advertising, supplies, etc. If the cost of any of those alone or in combination increase significantly the price of the good or service increases. Of course if customers are unwilling to pay the increased price the business will likely fail.

So it's quite possible for wages to remain static while the cost of goods to increase.

    HtS,
I checked, consumption of fentanyl is optional. So it's up to the user if they choose to become addicted or not. Take a tip from Nancy Reagan and "just say no!"

Lead- I wholeheartedly agree. Being the parent in law of a LEGAL immigrant, something she is proud of, she hates the open border.

To Curt's "point." If "consumption of fentanyl is optional" so is coming in to the country illegally, optional. So is murdering a three year old. Or using a five year old as a sex slave, which you also seem to support.

You need to inform yourself about the fentanyl crisis. Your comment is illiterate.

The consumption of fentanyl, though, is never an option if it's not available. These days, nearly all of it comes into the US through the southern border.

pb can't imagine one way that the US is benefiting from "that feckless dementia-ridden piece of crap's" border policy...

...and, that you can even think about defending it!!!!!?

pb is 100% in favor of allowing more immigrants into the country. But, in a way that attacks human and drug trafficking and protects women and young women and girls and boys from sexual abuse and provides a path to citizenship. What's so wrong with that?

Correction; "which you also seem to support." change to "which he also seems to support."
