This timeline shows how the French Revolution was carried out, and it's immediate effects with the rise and fall of Napoleon Bonaparte.

The First and Second Estates were paying way less taxes than the Third Estate.
|
|
The national debt of France was starting to increase.
|
|
Increasing food prices caused citizens to start to riot over the prices of basic goods.
|
|
Each estate would meet and vote as a group, each estate had one vote, but
the First & Second estate would outvote the Third estate 2 to 1.
|
|
The Third Estate wanted to meet together as a single body with votes counted by head, but the
new voting procedure was rejected.
|
|

|
This gives rise to the Reign of Terror, leaded by Maximilian Robespierre and the 12-member "Committee of Public Safety".
|
|
The revolution is a success, and gives rise to "The Declaration of the Rights of Man" and the "Civil Constitution of the Clergy". King Louis XVI is also executed.

On July 14th 1789, the common people storm the Bastille prison and gain the access to weapons.
|
|
Few days later the National Assembly finds its meeting hall locked, so they
gather at a nearby tennis court instead and
take the Tennis Court Oath.

The Third estate then declared themselves
the National Assembly
delegates from the First & Second estate are invited to join the National Assembly
|
|

They use the Guillotine in order to kill anyone who spoke out against them.
|
|
Robespierre is eventually put down and killed, and France learns from their mistakes to make a more modern government.
|
|
They appoint Napoleon Bonaparte into power, who quickly gains power and fame.
|
|
He takes steps to give male citizens equal rights, gains friendly relations with the Pope,and makes a better tax system.
|
|
He starts to win many battles and annexes a lot of land in the name of France.
|
|
|

He is sent to a prison where he eventually dies.
|
|
Napoleon is defeated by the Duke of Wellington at the battle of Waterloo.
|
|
After this, Napoleon steps down from the throne.
|
|
His aura of invincibility is broken when he is taken down in Russia. This causes him to lose around 500000 men due to Russia outplaying and juking the army into the cold.
